I finally
tried out Kung Fu for the first time. I'm happy that I did because it was
really interesting. I found that the style is way different than I thought.
I never
realized that when you do different fighting styles in martial arts then
everything is different. I mean I knew that it was a different style for a
reason. But I mean you do everything differently. I'm talking about the way you
punch down to the way you walk. I think it's funny how they walk. From the
moves I learned yesterday, I noticed something that was familiar to ShoShinDo.
When you walk in Kung Fu you walk in Dragon style "90% on your back foot,
10% on your front foot," the same way that Harry had explained it.
I know
that I didn't really learn anything in Kung Fu because when we were doing the
Matis, our instructor only got me and the other new guy to the 5th move. It was
kinda hard to learn the coordination. But after we got through the whole thing
once without using our hands then we had to incorporate that part into it. It
was a bit harder and every time I moved my hand then I would keep it in a fist
and next to my chest as I was taught in ShoShinDo.
Another
thing that I kept doing was popping my knee out when kicking forward. In Kung
Fu you want you kick to be more like slicing your leg up. The difference for
ShoShinDo is that your leg actually goes into a chamber then pop out. The other
difference is thst in ShoShinDo you would move forward after kicking forward.
But in Kung Fu you don't want to move forward much. I got the impression that
you wouldn't move any more forward than you need to.
