I'm
sitting at the dojo. Just got done with kickboxing. It was a workout. Lets put
it like this. Kickboxing is a lot more cardio than Sho-Shin-Do. We did a bunch
of strengthening excersises also.
There is
one excersise where you use a medicine ball and you lay down on your stomach.
You do it like you are in push-up position except one hand is on the floor and
one hand is on the ball. The way you do this exercise is by pushing up so that
your body becomes parallel, just as it does when you do a push-up. There's a
catch thought. When you push up you have to roll the ball across the floor so
that you switch the hand that holds the ball while you go down. So if the ball
is in your left hand while you are down then you want to roll the ball to your
right hand as you push yourself up. You keep rolliny back & forth as you
keep going up.
We didn't
have any number that we were trying to reach, we just kept going until we
couldn't anymore. After a while of doing it then your arms will feel like they
are ready to fall off. And that's how you know that you have been working out
those muscles.
I noticed
that kickboxing seems to be a bit more about strenght and endurance. Or at
least it is emphasized more. I can already feel my arms hurting from today's
workout. It's only my first time but i feel like the workouts focus a lot of
muscle endurance. I know you need it for any sport or activity but I believe
that kickboxing may be one of those sports where it really comes in handy and
is a need in kickboxing.
